Bridgetown Judo (橋町 柔道) is a club focused on promoting the martial art of judo and developing athletes of all ages and abilities in the Portland, OR area.

Our school is founded on the principles of judo first laid out by its founder, Jigoro Kano: “mutual benefit” and “maximum efficiency, minimum effort.” We emphasize personal and community development through recreational and competitive judo.

Whether you are at the start of your judo journey or have many miles behind you, we believe Bridgetown Judo can be a home for you to develop skills, rise to challenges, reach your goals, and make friends.

Our Values

Mutual Benefit (Jita-Kyoei)

A founding principle of judo. Each person’s honest effort benefits not only themselves, but everyone around them.

Maximum Efficiency, Minimum Effort (Seiryoku-Zenyo)

The second founding principle of judo. Moving in the most efficient way avoids wasting energy and maximizes effectiveness in sport and in life.

Safety

Everyone deserves to train in a safe and clean environment.

Work Hard

You deserve your best effort and the best effort from your training partners.

Have Fun

We find joy in movement, teamwork, and improvement.
