Current COVID-19 protocols: OHA lifted the mask mandate for the state of Oregon on March 12, 2022, and Multnomah County is not implementing a local mask mandate per their recent announcement on March 3.

Students attending Kids’ Judo are no longer required to wear a mask during practice, but students are welcome to wear masks if they choose. All adult instructors for Kids’ Judo will still wear masks for every class.

If you are experiencing any type of cold, flu, or COVID-19 symptoms, please be respectful of your fellow judoka and stay home to rest. This includes (but is not limited to) symptoms like runny nose, cough, sore throat, and chills.

 Our Classes

Schedule last updated on 07/06/2023.

  • Our classic adult judo class! This class is meant for all levels, from absolute beginner to advanced belts. We structure our curriculum so students learn new techniques that build upon previous lessons in class. You can expect an emphasis on ukemi and movement, various judo throws, and judo matwork. Each class includes warmups, a technique of the day, and randori time. Teens need instructor-approval prior to joining this class.

  • While most of the judoka that attend this class are more advanced, all levels of adult competitors are welcome. Judoka attending this class can expect an emphasis on drills and conditioning that is meant to build the strength and cardio needed to prepare our athletes to fight in tournaments with ease. We will also cover current IJF competition rules and regulations, as well as the structure of bowing in and competing in matches. Teens need instructor-approval prior to joining this class.

  • Our earliest morning class! If you’re an early bird, this class is a perfect way to start your morning with some judo. Kata is the practice of pre-arranged sets of judo techniques. While it may be performed at a slower pace, kata is essential for judoka to learn the history and principles behind the throws they perform. You also need it for promotion, so might as well start learning :)

  • Our judo class just for kids from 5 to 15. Parents can expect our kids’ class to be a space where kids not only learn judo techniques (falling, throwing, and groundwork) but also confidence, respect, and teamwork—the tenets of judo! Older students have the opportunity to gain leadership skills by helping the instructors demonstrate techniques and working with their younger peers.

  • Our class just for women! Whether you’re new or experienced, this class is for women of all levels that want to practice judo in a female-only environment.

  • Our partners at Enso BJJ Portland teach these classes! Please visit their Instagram page here for more detailed information.

Not sure about what classes to take? Feel free to stop by 15-20 minutes before any of these classes so we can set you up for a free trial!
